Hi again everyone! I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I last blogged!! Lots of changes since I last posted: I got a job as a French teacher, moved back in with my parents (no more schooling!), I traveled to Hong Kong, my boyfriend has moved to Ottawa to complete teacher’s college, and Theodore Macintosh Esquire passed away. Some of these changes were good, some of these changes were bad, but man, ALL OF THEM put a lot of stress on me and my mental state was definitely put to the test (and still is!).
However, I’ve learned a lot about myself. There are times when I have just wanted to give up completely. I stopped having lunch just to work on plans for the afternoon that I never even got to because I found my plans either weren’t suitable or my students were still working on the stuff I gave them the last week! I sometimes stayed at still until 5, and got home at 6. Running errands afterwards sometimes ran me until 7 or 8 at night! Forget about parent-teacher interviews: those sometimes lasted me until 10pm. *GASP*
But recently I’ve decided to give myself a break. School ends at 3:30pm and I’ve pretty much given myself a time limit of 4:15pm. I get out of there to be able to get home by 5. During school, I work my butt off to have stuff done for the next day. Give myself time to relax and not to stress the little things. I basically took a high school teacher’s words as my daily mantra: “Everything will eventually be ok.”
SO, because of the change of schedule of my life, my skin took a turn for the worse. Admittedly, I skipped out on some of my routines because of pure laziness, BUT NO MORE. I’ve gotten better after my “eventually-everything-will-be-ok” revelation.
My skin looked drab and dull because of lack of sleep. The cold also made my skin super dry as well (IT’S STILL SNOWING IN APRIL. OMG CANADA.) so I decided to look up some moisturizing cleansers for sensitive skin. I decided to try out SUM:37 Skin Saver Essential Cleansing Foam. Boy, it works well!
I’ve had one too many cleansers that made my skin feel like it was going to break. That was before I knew that moisturizing is super important! Believe it or not, I also know moisturizers that are TOO moisturizing that make me break out (like The Face Shop’s Rice Water Bright Cleansing Cream…but more on that later).
This is my first time trying SUM:37, and my first impressions are good. The cleanser comes out as a clear gel, but rub it around with a bit of water and it turns foamy. I found that pumping only a little bit is already enough for the entire face.
After washing, your face feels clean and refreshed without the feeling of flaking, dry skin. That’s all I ask…it’s not much! I’ve used this for about a month now and I will stick with the bottle until the end!
- Doesn’t dry out your skin,
- Isn’t too oily
- The price is very right! 🙂 ($28 here!)
- A little goes a long way, so you don’t need to use too much of it at once!
- SOMETIMES I feel a slight sting in sensitive areas, such as on pimples and blemishes, but not harsh at all in my opinion
Overall, I think it’s a great cleanser, especially for people with dry or combination skin. It cleanses well and sets your skin up well for incoming moisture!
Happy cleansing! 🙂
